When one eulogy isn't enough

How can a single eulogy sum up a person's life and spirit?

When my cousin Bob died tragically at age 40, it came as a profound shock to hundreds of people who loved him.

We knew that with an open mike, dozens of people would want to speak and the ceremony would carry on for many hours, which just wasn't bearable. But we also knew that Bob was such a multifaceted person, that no one speaker could tell it all.

At the service then, five of us spoke: a cousin from each side of the family, a representative of his company, and two friends.

In the days following, groups of his friends gathered together at some of Bob's favorite surfing and climbing spots to tell more stories and relive their memories.

Grieve deeply

"If you love deeply, you will grieve deeply. If you deny your grief, you deny the reality of the love you felt."
